Medical Technologist - Reference Lab, St. Louis
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is seeking 2 full-time Medical Technologists in our St. Louis Reference Laboratory. This position is responsible for performing consultations for hospital blood banks and physicians regarding patient transfusion issues and selection of appropriate blood products. Will also communicate with hospital customers to ensure ongoing customer education. Requires B.S., at least 3 years blood banking experience and MT (ASCP). SBB or reference experience is a plus.

Evening position: Mon-Fri, 3p-11p, with rotating on-call duties
Night position: Mon-Fri, 10p-6a, with rotating on-call duties



Therapeutic Apheresis RN

• Performs therapeutic apheresis procedures on patients in a hospital setting (plasma exchange, WBC depletion, RBC exchange, therapeutic phlebotomy)
• Central line access care
• Dialysis access care
• Peripheral sticks
• Manages adverse reactions of patients if necessary
• Requires RN Licensure in the State of Illinois
• Current CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines within 3 months after hire
• Must be able to obtain Allied Health Privileges at Memorial Medical Center
• Must have reliable transportation with valid driver’s license
• Must be able to rotate on-call every 4th week
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Hours are variable depending on work load

Most commonly performed procedure is plasma exchange:
This is the process of removing plasma from blood to treat disease. For patients with certain medical conditions, proteins or antibodies in the plasma cause many of their symptoms. By performing a plasma exchange, the harmful components can be removed and replaced with other fluids. An apheresis instrument is used to separate the disease associated fraction and replaces them with albumin, saline or plasma. The abnormal component is then discarded.




Immunohematology Reference Technologist
Make a difference as a part of our growing Reference Laboratory team in Springfield! Our dedicated technologists provide services to hospitals located in 4 states. As a PRN Reference Technologist you’ll use your problem solving skills and attention to detail working less than 20 hours / week plus on call coverage at least every 5th week. Requires BS in Clinical Laboratory Science and current ASCP certification or equivalent. Two years experience in a transfusion service preferred. Must live within 30 miles of Springfield location.
