High School Blood Challenge 2011-2012
The High School Blood Challenge encourages high school students, faculty, friends and members of the community to donate blood in recognition and support of their high school.
Competing in categories based on student enrollment, the high school in each category with the highest percentage will receive a $1,000 scholarship to award to a deserving graduating senior to help with continued education. Schools may divide the scholarship funds to award more than one student.
The 2011-2012 High School Blood Challenge will run from May 2011 through May 13, 2012 (see Guideline Handout below for more information). Six $1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship are awarded each year for deserving high school seniors. Our thanks to Springfield Clinic, Comcast in Springfield and the Memorial Foundation in Belleville for supporting the Blood Center by sponsoring these scholarships.
Help a deserving student continue his or her education, and help patients in your area hospitals. Donors may give at any blood drive or the Springfield Donor Center. Simply ask registration staff to credit your donation toward your favorite high school for the High School Blood Challenge.

“Kicking off a new season of the High School Blood Challenge never gets old,” said Mark Kuhn, Chief Administrative Officer at Springfield Clinic. “For the 11th consecutive year, Springfield Clinic is honored to partner with the Central Illinois Community Blood Center to bring this program to high schools throughout the area. We are so pleased that our support helps inspire these students, their schools, families and communities to rally around this life-saving cause and we look forward to another record-setting year of blood donation.” Download the release...
