Although all blood types are needed and appreciated, we have a special need for O-, O+ and A-. We are also in need of platelet donors.

WHY A DOUBLE RED DONATION

  • Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
  • Each year, more than 4.5 million people receive about 14 million units of red blood cells.
  • Only 5% of the eligible population donates.
  • Eligible donors can give two units of red blood cells in 21-25 minutes on average.
  • Donation interval time is 112 days vs. 56 days for whole blood.
  • Uses a smaller needle than a typical whole blood donation.
  • Has been used safely for tens of thousands of donations.

    WHY A PLATELET DONATION

Many local patients need platelet transfusions to survive.  Platelets give blood the ability to clot.  Without adequate platelet counts, patients can bleed to death from simple injuries.  Your donation helps these patients survive and regain their health. Please consider becoming a platelet donor.
